This Is another reason.. Why I Write

One of my absolute favourite things about being a crime fiction author? Giving back to the readers who make it all worthwhile.

If you've been following me for a while, you'll know I regularly gift ebooks to book clubs around the world, and in return, I get something even better: a front-row seat to watching readers react to my stories in real time.

Here's how it works. 

Once a club finishes reading, we jump on Zoom together. I introduce myself, we swap theories, bust some myths about how the story came together, and honestly.  We just have a brilliant laugh. 

They get a peek behind the curtain at how and why I crafted the story, and I get a lovely reminder of exactly why I write.

Since "Through Her Gaze" — Book 1 of my Roxy Powers Series, landed as a BookBub Featured Deal, with over 9,000 downloads, my inbox has been absolutely flooded with book club requests from all over the world, and I am not complaining one bit. I love it.

There's something magical about connecting with a reader who has lived inside a world you built from nothing. 

Whether it's in person or through a screen, those conversations light a fire in me that sends me straight back to my desk to write the next chapter in my next book series.
